Sprechstunde Musikwirtschaft “Rights & Royalties: Caring & Sharing”
As if the rights and royalties landscape wasn’t convoluted enough, new developments like NFTs, AI-based music or virtual performances have made things even more complicated. Keeping track of which rights arise when and where, which rights holders are affected, and how to properly manage rights seems more complicated than ever – especially for independent musicians. But when music rights management is seen as a tool to help expand reach, create new revenue streams, and promote careers over the long term, the topic becomes much more exciting. In the Sprechtunde Musikwirtschaft “Rights & Royalties: Caring & Sharing” on Thursday, July 28 from 10:00 a.m., Ariane Petschow (MusicHub) navigated through the music rights jungle in Germany and showed participants where and how royalties can be maximized, leaving more time for creative work.
- In the dialogue with the participants, these topics were addressed, among others:
How to navigate the complex rights and royalties landscape of the music industry as an independent musician? - Together, independent and legally secure? What is your role as a musician and how do partners like MusicHub, GEMA and a strong creative community support you in managing your music rights and royalties along your creative process and your “artist journey”?
- MusicHub as a GEMA venture – genesis, vision and future plans. We give an insight into our integrated digital music platform and answer your questions.
We would like to thank Ariane for the informative talk and sharing her expertise as well as all participants for the lively exchange!
