Start nominations
Today is the start of the nomination phase for the Listen to Berlin: Awards 2023. From now until September 1st, you can nominate inspiring people, initiatives and companies from Berlin for the eighth edition of the Listen to Berlin: Awards. This year, awards will be presented in eight categories – including, for the first time, an award for young musicians between the ages of 14 and 18.
We are looking for your suggestions in five award categories:
✨ Prize for the Promotion and Development of the Berlin Music Scene
✨ Prize for the most creative music video
✨ Prize for Music Journalism
✨ Award for sustainable management
✨ Rolf Budde Award for Attitude in the Music Industry
Which actors* have particularly moved the Berlin music industry this year? Who deserves to be recognized for this? Tell us!
Nominations for the music awards Listen to Berlin – Artist Award and Listen to Berlin – Youth Award are made via the Listen to Berlin: Compilation. The nomination for the Honorary Award of the Berlin Music Commission is up to the jury.
The application period for the Listen to Berlin: Compilation is only open until June 30.

The categories of the Listen to Berlin: Awards 2023 at a glance
LISTEN TO BERLIN – ARTIST AWARD
The prize is awarded to an outstanding artistic achievement from the current Listen to Berlin: compilation.
LISTEN TO BERLIN – YOUTH AWARD
The prize is awarded for an outstanding artistic achievement from the current Listen to Berlin: Compilation by artists* under the age of 18.
AWARD FOR SUSTAINABLE MANAGEMENT
The prize is awarded to a company, an individual or an initiative that sets an example for a sustainable Berlin music industry by acting in a particularly ecologically, economically or socially sustainable manner.
AWARD FOR THE PROMOTION AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE BERLIN MUSIC SCENE
The prize is awarded to a person or project that has made a special contribution to the promotion and development of the Berlin music scene.
ROLF BUDDE AWARD FOR ATTITUDE IN THE MUSIC INDUSTRY
The prize is awarded to a person, a company or an initiative from Berlin’s music industry that has rendered outstanding social commitment or civil courage and has developed a special role model effect for the preservation of open society and the advocacy of diversity, tolerance and integration of disadvantaged people in Berlin’s music industry.
AWARD FOR MUSIC JOURNALISM
The prize is awarded to a person, a company or an initiative that has rendered outstanding services to the Berlin music scene or to the development of the music industry as a whole through its journalistic or journalistic work.
MOST CREATIVE MUSIC VIDEO
The prize is awarded to a particularly creative music video by musicians and video artists from Berlin, which was released between September 2022 and August 2023 and was able to set new aesthetic or content-related impulses.
HONORARY AWARD OF THE BERLIN MUSIC COMMISSION
The prize is awarded to an outstanding artist, entrepreneur, or initiative whose work is particularly representative of the radiance of the music location.
Nomination and voting procedure
Based on your suggestions, the winners will be selected by an expert jury consisting of the elected BMC board of trustees and other high-profile players in Berlin’s music industry. We look forward to your feedback on which players have moved the Berlin music industry this year and deserve an award.

The Listen to Berlin Awards ceremony is an event organized by the Berlin Music Commission on behalf of the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Industry.
Listen to Berlin: Compilation is a project of the Berlin Music Commission in cooperation with Zebralution, MusicPool, FluxFM and Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus.
