Consultation Music Business: “Trendmedium Podcast – How to make yourself heard”
The consultation music business is an open network format for exchange, consultation and problem analysis. With the support of experts, support and know-how for concrete questions and topics are offered to small groups of participants at regular events.
In the consultation session “Trendmedium Podcast: How you make yourself heard” on 09.07.2020, the speakers Tim Thaler and Victor Redman (Folivox) explained in detail how a successful podcast production can look like.
No medium has gained more popularity in recent years than the podcast. With “Fest & Flauschig”, Jan Böhmermann and Olli Schulz now entertain thousands of listeners on Spotify. A live edition of the successful podcast “Sexvergnügen” even took place in front of a sold-out audience at Berlin’s Columbia Theater. More and more people listen to podcasts, and more and more people, but also brands and companies, are starting their own podcasts. At the same time, however, very few people really know about the trend medium. Do you really only need a topic and a microphone to get started as a podcaster? The answer is: “Yes, but…”.
For the journalists Tim Thaler and Victor Redman, podcasting at the highest level is part of their daily business. Their company Folivox offers podcast productions from conception to recording, sound design and distribution. Among the clients of Folivox are Mozilla, the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe and the ZEIT-Akademie. In 2019, the company received a Lovie Award for the best single episode of a podcast.
In their dialogue with the participants, they addressed the following topics, among others:
- What can a podcast do that other media cannot?
- How do I get from the idea to the finished podcast with iTunes, Spotify and Co.
- What are the requirements?
- Is it possible to earn money with podcasts?

We thank Tim Thaler and Victor Redman for their expertise and all participants for the lively exchange!
