Consulation Music Business “Stress management in everyday working life”
The “Sprechstunde Musikwirtschaft” is an open network format for exchange, consultation and problem analysis. With the support of experts, support and know-how for concrete questions and topics are offered to a small group of participants at regular events.
(Music) life is finally back in full swing. What many have longed for, however, means above all: stress in everyday work. The fact that our industry can be enormously stressful and burdensome is nothing new. Little sleep, lack of separation from private life, poor working conditions, fear of failure and constant pressure to succeed are just some of the factors behind this. The crises of the past two years and the restart of live events have added new qualities to this. And then there’s the guilty conscience among those who want to strive for less stress and set healthy boundaries. So what to do? How can we learn to manage stress better? And how do we actually recognize when it’s too much? These were the questions we addressed in the online music industry talk “Coping with Stress in the Workday” on Thursday, June 30, starting at 10 a.m. with Michael Wecker (MiM – Mental Health in Music).
In dialogue with the participants, Michael Wecker gave a comprehensive presentation in which he first addressed what stress is in the first place and what physical and mental consequences it can have. In various interactive exercises, the participants were able to determine their current stress level and personal stressors. Michael Wecker then gave valuable tips on how to deal with stress better and the participants shared their own strategies. Measures can be, for example, to integrate regular breaks and relaxation into everyday life, to switch off push notifications or to strengthen the conviction in one’s own competence.
We would like to thank Michael very much for the informative talk and sharing his expertise as well as all participants for the lively exchange!
