Berlin Music Commission is searching Head of Finance & People (w/m/d) from May 2024
The Berlin Music Commission networks, strengthens and represents players from all areas of the music industry and is also their mouthpiece for politics and other industries. Through active networking and with the help of various advisory and event formats, it bundles creative and economic potential. In this way, sustainable projects are developed that prepare the players for the demands of an increasingly digitalised world and contribute to the professionalisation of the music industry.
To strengthen the Berlin music industry and in close cooperation with our network, we are offering a position as Head of Finance & People (m/f/d) in the BMC office from 1 May 2024.
Financial management
- Financial management of the cooperative
- Financial and award management of public funding (tenders, reporting)
- Budget planning for the office and network projects
- Contribution management and dunning
- Controlling the operation of the cooperative and network projects
- Supervision of the planning and preparation of funding applications
- Development of work processes for finance and reporting
- Order management for services, freelancers and benefits in kind
- Preparatory accounting in DATEV Unternehmen Online
Personnel management
- Recruitment procedures, contracts, preparation of certificates and other official proof of employment
- Ongoing implementation of the legal framework in contracts and sustainable structures
- Communicating with social security organisations, payroll accounting, the tax consultant and the accounting department
- Conducting regular staff appraisals
- Developing work and reporting processes together with the office management
- Introduction of a time recording system for salaried and freelance employees
- Supervising compliance with and implementation of the values from the Code of Conduct in the office, teams, collaborations and projects
Your profile
- Successfully completed studies in at least one relevant subject area (e.g. business administration, law, cultural management), ideally with a focus on controlling, finance, organisation or administration or relevant professional experience
- Several years of relevant professional experience in the required areas of responsibility, ideally in a cultural organisation
- Economic thinking and creative vision in equal measure
- Strong self-organisation and initiative, very good comprehension skills, ability to work under pressure, motivation and very good time management skills
- Comprehensive knowledge, especially in dealing with public funding and administration, is an advantage
- Basic understanding of the Berlin music industry
- friendly, goal- and team-orientated personality with good communication and consulting skills
- business fluent in written and spoken German and English (C1/C2)
- Experience with agile processes and coaching is an advantage
very good computer skills (especially in the common MS Office programmes Excel, Word, DATEV Unternehmen Online, ideally experience with Mac, Google Drive, Zoom, Asana, Mailchimp)

Remuneration: based on TV-L 13, level classification depends on experience and educational background
