Arbeitskreis Nachhaltigkeit Grosse Runde
Dear friends, members and network partners,
We would like to cordially invite you to the next big round of the Sustainability Working Group, which will take place on 12 June 2024 at 5 pm.
At this meeting we will talk to Dr Birte Jung about her work at the Greener Fête de la Musique. Here you can find a nice interview with her in Tip Berlin: https://www.tip-berlin.de/stadtleben/nachhaltigkeit-greener-fete-de-la-musique/.
If you are interested, you are welcome to register via Typeform.
About the content of the event:
Dr Birte Jung is an experienced sustainability consultant, IHK-certified transformation manager and ISO 20121-certified sustainable event management officer with a background in landscape planning/architecture. She is also one of the spokespersons for the Sustainability Working Group.
For over ten years, she has been committed to a sustainable future for music and cultural events with a focus on open spaces. In her doctoral thesis, she researched the sustainable use of public open spaces for events. She advises cultural organisations, companies and city councils and works with them to develop solutions to reduce the impact on the environment, climate and society and to improve sustainability performance. Birte has also developed several action guidelines for sustainable events, such as the Greener Fête de la Musique handout and the action guide for climate-neutral events in Berlin. In 2019, she co-initiated the Greener Fête de la Musique sustainability project and is one of the signatories of a Green Deal for the Berlin Fête de la Musique.
About Greener Fête de la Musique
The Fête de la Musique takes place annually on 21 June with free admission at thousands of locations worldwide. In Germany, over 100 cities take part, with Berlin being the largest event in the German network with over 150 stages and playing a pioneering role. We have been using this role to promote the topic of sustainability with the Greener Fête project since 2019 and make it accessible to a broad social spectrum. Greener Fête has set itself the task of researching and implementing solutions together with the stakeholders in order to make the climate and environmental impact of events measurable and minimise it in line with the 1.5-degree climate target.
Last year, we were able to lay important foundations thanks to infrastructure funding from the Initiative Musik: These include an indicator system for collecting data on consumption and other sustainability indicators for the Fête de la Musique music venues, recording the status quo using surveys, sustainability consulting and carbon footprints for three Greener Fête pilots, as well as developing a Greener Fête Charter and awards for music venues that are already committed to sustainability.
With the Greener Fête project, we are actively committed to an ecologically, socially and culturally sustainable future in the cultural sector.
