The capital’s musical life is unique – both in its diverse sounds and numerous talents, as well as in the dynamic and economically strong industry behind it. This is what the Berlin Music Commission wants to show every year with the Listen to Berlin: Awards and the Listen to Berlin: Compilation. And we listen to you: From now until August 29, you can nominate inspiring achievements from Berlin’s music industry for the Listen to Berlin: Awards and submit your current songs for the Listen to Berlin: Compilation.

Listen to Berlin: Awards

With the music awards on November 8, we again want to make companies, individuals and initiatives from Berlin visible who – often away from the limelight – contribute to a positive development of our industry. We are not so much interested in commercial success, but in the positive development of the business and music scenes, for example through socially and ecologically sustainable actions, innovative impulses or artistic excellence. The award ceremony will take place as a prelude to Most Wanted: Music in front of an invited audience at the Kulturbrauerei’s Kesselhaus.

Listen to Berlin: Compilation

Berlin-based artists, songwriters, labels, publishers and producers also have until August 29 to submit their current songs for the 15th Listen to Berlin: Compilation. The compilation serves as a cross-genre musical business card for the capital city, showcasing up-and-coming talent. Unusual and courageous productions are explicitly sought, that set new impulses and challenge old listening habits. In addition to the release as part of the compilation, which is carefully curated by a jury of experts, the 18 selected artists will have the chance to win the “Listen to Berlin: Jury Award” as well as various performance opportunities, including at the major Berlin music business event Most Wanted: Music. The compilation will be released digitally on all streaming platforms and on an exclusive limited edition CD.

Listen to Berlin: Compilation is a project of the Berlin Music Commission in cooperation with Zebralution, MusicPool, FluxFM and Dussmann das KulturKaufhaus.

Jurys

A jury of experts appointed by the Berlin Music Commission will select the shortlist of the awards and the tracks of the compilation from all submissions. The juries are newly appointed every year and consist of members of the Berlin Music Commission’s Board of Trustees as well as external industry representatives. The juries will be announced shortly on listen-to-berlin-awards.de.

It is very close to our hearts to take measures within the framework of Listen to Berlin and Most Wanted: Music that help to prevent the reproduction of experiences of discrimination. We are supported by the experts for anti-racism and anti-discrimination, Loom e.V.

Most Wanted: Music and Listen to Berlin: Awards are events organized by the Berlin Music Commission funded by the Senate Department for Economic Affairs, Energy and Industry.
